When he finally came to the top room in the tower, he was shocked to see one of the walls was missing and looked like a dark forest! As Charlie into the trees, he saw his little brother slung over someone’s back in an alternate reality. However, this time, the footsteps didn’t just walk down the hall as usual, but instead went into Charlie’s little brother’s room! When Charlie heard the footsteps retreating, he quickly and quietly followed the steps through his large house to the highest tower. Charlie was almost completely convinced that all of this was just his imagination running wild, until one night when he heard the footsteps again before he went to sleep. On top of that, when he was awake, he would hear creaking footsteps in the hall just outside his room that didn’t belong to anyone he knew. Every time he went to sleep, in a very realistic dream, he would be taken and tied up by a terrifying witch and her oversized cat. I hope to read the rest of the series someday.In the book, the main character, named Charlie Laird, hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in months, or at least since he moved into a terrifying mansion that always sent chills up his spine even before he lived there. I found the book more comical for its giant bugs that wore nice clothes (along with other things) and sometimes that’s just the kind of book I want to read a funny story with horror aspects. And it’s perfect for younger kids who love a frightening story.

A haunting yet playful place, where nightmares live happily scaring dreams away from people. Charlie soon finds himself stuck in the world of Nightmares where everyone’s bad dreams come into play. Especially when one walks into the waking world and tries to kidnap his little brother. How miserable is that!īut maybe his nightmares are more real than he first thought.

But, worse than that, Charlie hasn’t been able to get a wink of good sleep since moving in, instead he’s plagued with nightmares every time he shuts his eyes.

Fortunately for authors, it doesn’t really take a lot for me to pick up a good book a good cover, a good synopsis, and it’s usually in my shopping cart.Īnd this isn’t a book I regretted picking up I absolutely love it! The story focuses on Charlie Laird, who hasn’t been doing so great ever since his dad remarried and they moved into a giant, purple mansion (why purple? The designers must have had an interesting taste in fashion). I read the front, the back, and flipped through it to spy on all the pictures, and I was hooked. I can’t remember exactly, but it was one of those books where when I saw it, I was intrigued. I’m pretty sure I found this book at Walmart?
